The market research report presents the market segmentation of the robotic vacuum cleaner market in South Korea by application type (pool cleaning, home cleaning, and gutter cleaning). The leading companies in the residential robotic vacuum cleaner market are LG, Samsung, iRobot, and Yujin Robot.

Technavio’s market research analysts estimate the residential robotic vacuum cleaner market in South Korea to generate revenues worth US $100 million between 2015 and 2019. Much of the market’s growth comes from the rising tech-savvy population and dual-earning families, who want to invest fewer hours on household cleaning chores.

The demand for robotic vacuum cleaners is increasing considerably owing to their sophisticated features such as sensor-based movement, scheduled cleaning, and automatic movement to charger docking stations. These wireless vacuum cleaners run on rechargeable batteries and infrared sensors. As these are automated with navigation systems, they track the area that needs to be cleaned. Moreover, vendors have started furnishing these residential robo-vacs with supplementary functions such as home security, which alerts homeowners about fires and intrusions.

Manufacturers are also introducing robotic vacuum cleaners that can be controlled with smartphones. Some of them are trying to integrate both hardware and software through microcontroller, motor shields, sensors, mobile applications and bluetooth features. Stair-climbing residential robotic vacuum cleaners are also entering the market where the robot will use its omni wheels and break support to climb up and down stairs.

“Market vendors have started downward pricing to reduce the cost of residential robotic vacuum cleaners so that a larger pool of people can afford them. Also, new vendors are offering robo-vacs equipped with high-tech features at comparatively cheaper rates. Domestic manufacturers are providing special offers on robotic vacuum cleaners to the bulk buyers of major appliances, who are willing to pay more for value-added items,” says Navin Rajendra, Lead Analyst, Industrial Automation, Technavio Research.

The top four vendors in the robotic vacuum cleaner market in South Korea market are LG, Samsung, iRobot, and Yujin Robot. The robotics market is highly competitive with a large number of international and local vendors competing for a significant market share. While the international vendors provide better design and highly functional products, the local vendors offer cost-effective options.
